Christine Heppermann is a writer, poet, and critic. She has been a columnist and reviewer for The Horn Book Magazine since 1996.

Her poems are published in 5AM, The Magazine of Contemporary Poetry; Poems and Plays; Kite Tales; Nerve Cowboy; The Mas Tequila Review; and The Horn Book Magazine.

She contributed chapters to A Family of Readers: The Book Lover’s Guide to Children’s and Young Adult Literature (Candlewick, 2010) and Children’s Books and Their Creators (Houghton Mifflin, 1995).

She has reviewed children’s and young adult books for The New York Times, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the San Antonio Express News, and many other publications. She has an MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons College and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University.

Christine’s first book is City Chickens (Houghton Mifflin, 2012). She is currently working on diverse projects including poems for children and adults, nonfiction children's books, and a verse novel for young adults.
